Diosdado Banatao inventor of microchip

When we think of rich Filipinos, we think of individuals that belong to the Sy, Ayala, Gokongwei and other prominent names in the field of business. But most Filipinos don't know the man invented the most widely used chipset and brought change on the way we use computers. His name is Diosdado Banatao, he came from a humble beginning and now his net worth exceeded $5 billion.

Because of this contribution in the field of high technology, he earned the reputation as the Filipino counterpart of Bill Gates. He grew up in poverty in a barrio deep in Cagayan Valley. But poverty did not stop him to pursue his ambitions of designing and inventing vehicles and other electronic equipment. So he studied abroad and succeeded in starting companies that built chipsets such as Mostron.

Throughout the years, Diosdado Banatao participated in philanthropic work and even ordered the modification of the elementary school where he studied and started to dream.

He even urged the richest men residing in the Philippines to become more generous. You can watch his short biography that he narrated himself. It is titled from Cagayan Valley to Silicon Valley.
