With the pioneer of various transportation means, we have today, moving from one place to another became an easy routine. We can travel from meters to miles, and from blocks to around the globe. In the Philippines, the common daily transport vehicles that people use are tricycles, jeepneys, buses, and trains.

These different means of transportation are a great help to most of the commuters worldwide, yet they are not as great as what we think they are. Its abundance crowds the highways which result to moderate to heavy traffic jams. These congestions cost an economy waste of millions. Also, having crowded highways of vehicles contribute to air pollution which in fact, is very evident in many cities.

This is why aside from traveling aboard vehicles, we should take a break from it and walk.
Walking has a lot of benefits and helps us to fight health problems. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

According to the journal Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, walking can actually help to reduce the case of chronic diseases. It is also an ideal exercise to lose weight and become healthier.
Walking is good for people who have high blood pressure since it aids in regulating it. At least an hour a day every day keeps one's high blood pressure in check.

Amazingly, walking can lower the risk of cancer like breast cancer.

Moreover, it can actually improve a person's intelligence. It helps to improve the blood circulation which can make someone's brain function more and better.

Some people who have diabetes could have acquired it from a sedentary lifestyle. Well, walking will surely be able to control their blood sugar levels.
In addition, our bones tend to become weaker as we grow. the good news is by simply walking regularly we can strengthen them same as our muscles.

Another benefit of walking is that it improves digestion along with maintaining good food habits and drinking water. It can also prevent infections and diseases by bolstering our immune system.

In a study conducted by 17,000 Harvard graduates, it shows that the student who walked at least 30 minutes a day can live longer than those who don't. Lastly, several studies have proven the physical activities can help prevent depression, thus, walking is highly recommended by physicians and psychiatrists to people with anxiety and depression.

It is time for you to gather up your feet, go outside, take a walk, and work those limbs up if you are living a sedentary lifestyle.
