Home Remedies To Lighten Dark Armpits, Knees, Elbows And Neck

It is normal to have dark skin in some areas of our body especially the neck, armpits, elbows, and knees. This pigmentation is called Acanthosis nigricans and caused by aging and frequent sun exposure. And these areas are a lack of oil glands, which can make them prone to dryness. If you skip skin care on the said areas their condition might get worse.


Here are some remedies you might like to try to get rid of your dark skin.


For Neck

Baking Soda

Baking soda is great for exfoliating and cleaning the skin. It can even remove freckles.

1. Mix 3 parts of baking soda with 1 part of water to make a paste.
2. Put the paste on your neck and wait for it to dry.
3. Leave it for a few minutes.
4. Rinse with water.
5. Repeat twice a week.

Potato

Potatoes are crystalline in content and contain catecholase that is proven to naturally lighten the skin.

1. Grind the potato and squeeze it to get its juice.
2. Mix the potato juice with lemon juice.
3. Rub it into the neck in circular motion.
4. Leave it for 15 minutes.
5. Rinse with water.
6. Repeat daily.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera lightens and nourishes the skin. It can erase dark spots and areas and repair skin all over.

1. Apply the aloe vera into the neck.
2. Leave it for 20 minutes.
3. Rinse with water.
4. Repeat daily.


For Elbows and Knees

Milk

Milk contains fatty acids and vitamins that can soothe the skin. To intensify its effect you can mix it with curd.

1. Mix 2 tablespoons of milk with 1 tablespoon of curd and 1 tablespoon of flour to make a paste.
2. Put the paste into the affected area.
3. Leave it for 15 minutes.
4. Rinse with water.

Lemon

Lemons are a good source of vitamin C that removes dead skin cells.

1. Mix 1 part of lemon juice with 3 parts of honey.
2. Rub it into the affected area in circular motion.
3. Leave it for 20 minutes.
4. Rinse with water.

Sugar

Sugar is great for removing dead skin cells.

1. Mix equal parts of sugar and olive oil to make a paste.
2. Massage the paste into the affected area for a few minutes.
3. Rinse with water.
4. Repeat daily.

Almond

Almonds have the nutrients that make the skin look pretty.

1. Mix 2 tablespoons of almond powder with yogurt to make a paste.
2. Put it into the affected area and let it dry.
3. After drying, rub it off using wet fingers.
4. Rinse with cold water.
5. Repeat daily for 14 days.


For Armpits

Cucumber

Cucumber does not only lightens the skin but it also soothes and cools it.

1. Mix cucumber juice with lemon juice and turmeric.
2. Rub it into the armpits.
3. Leave it for a few minutes.
4. Rinse with water.

Chickpea Mask

Ingredients:
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp yogurt
2 tbsp chickpea flour
1 pinch of turmeric

Procedure:
1. Mix all of the ingredients and stir it well to make it even.
2. Put it into the armpits.
3. Leave it for an hour.
4. Rinse with water.
5. Repeat daily then after a few days you can do this twice a week.
