We have been desensitized to watch videos showcasing graphic and mayhem. Hundreds of horror films and millions of real videos on the Internet brought shock and thrills to viewers. But recent behavioral studies have shown that watching these videos have the similar effect of trauma on watchers.
Psychologists believe that the subconscious mind is like a vacuum that sifts through everything that we feed it. Negativity from the nightly news on the Internet affects our subconscious mind and may even affect our decision-making and critical thinking skills.
Are we really influenced by what we watch or simulate through playing video games? Partly yes, according to psychiatrists. The minds of youth are easily molded by the images of macabre and terror. Parents should be more vigilant about the type of media that their kids are into.
