Is Watching Porn a Healthy Habit?

pornhub, porn

Watching online pornographic material has become a prevalent social phenomenon, according to the latest researcher. More and more couples have become viewing online porn in an attempt to spice things up in the living room. But is it considered a healthy habit? It might be if you don’t overdo it, said a team of scientists from a Canadian University.

There are way too many reasons why people choose to watch porn. While the vast majority argues that adult films are a treasure trove when it comes to picking up new stuff which may spice up your love life, others do it just to chase the loneliness away or because they are plain curious.

A new study from the Laval University proved that not only that watching porn in moderation is healthy, but that adult films viewers can be divided into three major categories. So, according to the new study, which was recently published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, porn viewers can fall under three categories: recreational, distressed, and compulsive.

The Laval University’s study reveals that the recreational group accounts for 75 percent of all adult films viewers. Researchers have observed that most recreational viewers are women and are in a relationship. The members belonging to this group usually watch about 24 minutes of porn per week.

Moving on, the second group which accounts for 13.2 percent of all porn watchers has been noted to associate viewing adult films with some type of emotional distress. According to the study’s results, the members of this groups will only watch about 17 minutes of porn material per week.

And, on the other side of the fence, there are compulsive porn viewers. According to the numbers, only 11.8 percent of all participants fall under this category. However, compared to recreational and distressed users, compulsive viewers watch an average of 110 minutes of adult films per week. The team of researchers said that the compulsive groups mostly consists of men.

So, what do these numbers tell us? During their study, the Laval University research team has observed that those who watch porn for recreation purpose often reported a higher sexual satisfaction, compared to distressed and compulsive users. Furthermore, the team also pointed out that recreational viewers are less likely to report avoidance and sexual dysfunctions compared to those from the distressed and compulsive groups.
