Corpse Used as a Hostage in the Philippines

In a news from ABS-CBN, 2 employees of a funeral services were arrested after they used a corpse as a hostage to get P360,000 pesos ($69,390 USD) money ransom.

With the power of the Mayor's Special Reaction Team in an entrapment operation the 2 suspects were arrested after they received the marked money to the corpse of a man named Marvin Ologenio, who was reportedly died after drowning.

According to the report, the funeral service charged the relatives of the dead man for about 360,000 pesos for restoration and reconstruction of the body, and threatened them that they will not release the corpse if the family will not pay for the price.

Nevertheless, after the body was seen by the family they were shocked that the body is in unnecessary state and already deformed.

The police in their statement said that this is as if a hostage case where a dead body was used by the suspects.

Investigation is still ongoing and the authority is looking for the other motives in the incident.
