Rober The Doll: The Original Chucky of the Child’s Play Movie

robert doll, chucky doll

Can you still remember Robert the Doll?

This creepy doll never failed to illicit fear to anyone who has known his mysterious abilities. The doll is famously known as Robert the Doll, other names could be Robert the Haunted Doll or Robert the Enchanted Doll. Robert the Doll was the inspiration for the horror film that features a creepy doll named Chucky who wants to kill everyone. The iconic doll from Child's Play. For a horror movie to be inspired by an ordinary-looking doll is quite a proof that there's something creepy with Robert the Doll.

The doll is said to be possessed by evil spirits and haunted its owners. The doll was given to Robert Eugene Otto in 1906 by a Bahamian servant who knows how to use black magic and voodoo. The servant was said to be angry with the family. The cursed doll caused frequent hauntings to the family of Otto since then. The family then started to speculate that there was something unusual with the doll. His parents were terrified when they heard their son talking to the doll and the doll spoke back to him.

Neighbors also claimed that the doll can be seen moving from window to window whenever the family was out. The Otto family caught the doll running from room to room and aside from moving and talking, the doll would also shout or even give a terrifying giggle. The doll also ruined some of their furniture. At first, they thought that their son is the one who did it but they started to believe that the doll is the culprit when they have witnessed the doll changing his expressions right before their eye.

Otto family left the doll hidden in the basement of the house but when the house had its new owner, the daughter of that newly moved family found Robert the Doll and became the doll's new owner. Since then, the little girl began complaining about the doll's unusual abilities such as walking in the night. Until one night, the girl screamed at night saying that the doll attempted to kill her.

Robert the Doll is currently located at the East Martello Museum in Key West, Florida.
